The annual Mediacorp Star Awards was held last Sunday. Artistes are out in full force (less Xie ShaoGuang who left the station) on this night.
Fashion Boo-boos aplenty, few had fashion sense, while others were there to make up the number. Our beloved President even took time off his busy schedule to grace the occasion, handing Miss Fann Wong, make that Mrs Lee, her “All Time Favourites Award”.
The norm remains, with people like Henry Thia, Pat Mok, Jin Yi Ji, attending the award show for their extended minutes of fame. Except Andy Hui, Kang Kang and Christy Chung, most presenters weren’t very exciting to watch either. There were also shockers, like Fiona Xie’s and Kym Ng’s exclusion in the Top 10.
But, this will remain as the “Zoe Tay’s Star Awards Show” 2005. Our Queen of the Hills made it a point to upstage many of her fellow colleagues, threatening to run the show all by herself. Chen Hanwei, Chris Lee, Chen Liping were amongst the stars that either she embrace, tease or stole attention away from.
Well, let’s hope, that the 2006 Star Awards would make some kind of breakthrough… maybe Henry Thia would finally get a Best Comedy Performance award, or Pat will somehow make it into the Top 10 females category.
